DAY 2 IN NY!
5/25/2008
|
I got up early and had breakfast with an old friend from the city. I then hopped in a woozy cab ride over to the hotel to meet the guys so we could rehearse for the show taping. I was not feeling good! The guys went through the acoustic set without me while I curled up on the bed. :P
We got to the taping and the people at Fearless were really cool. We did a sound check and before you know it we had wrapped! It went by so quick. We were lucky enough to get to watch the playback recordings in the lobby and we were really happy with the performance. Our manager rushed us outta there b/c we were late for an appearance at our distributor's (KOCH) office. They moved a baby shower around and everything to squeeze in an appearance. It was rainy and the traffic was severely congested. We drove out of the city on our way to their NY office. (about an hour a so away) We were in the car for 2 1/2 hours then stopped at the worst gas station to pee and grab dayZ old Dunkin Donuts. (In hindsight, the donuts probably weren't the best decision considering how I felt this morning).
An hour later...
Still not there and still in horrible traffic. We had to call and cancel. We felt soo bad..but there was no way we could have gotten there in time and we also had an important radio show in Jersey to get to in the evening!
We turned around and headed for Jersey!
We got to the JAM NOW offices and all of us rushed in to find a bathroom. hahah! The guys that ran JAM NOW were super cool and down to earth. We did one of our best and most fun interviews which you can check out in the attached link:
We ate some pizza, headed to the car and quickly realised we were unable to get in the car! The car key battery was dead! We were in an empty car parking lot in Jersey at midnight with no way home. ahhhH! The rental agency finally called us back and we were able to dislodge the actual key from the electronic sensor part. Long day? You are telling me.
Check out our myspace for more fun pics!!!

DAY 1 IN NY!
5/25/2008
|
So we all managed to get to the airport on time for once! We hopped on Virgin America Airlines and headed for the big apple. The touch screen with seat to seat chat, video games and a full entertainment zone was pretty rad. I chose a not so rad screen name that I didn't realize I was sharing with the rest of the plane! :0 Nice one Landon. I wonder if the flight attendants can get into your chats and read them. Anyway, we were all going back and forth in a similar conversation to that of our band room banter. Eventually, we all fell asleep. Check out the pic I took of the happy sleeping campers. FYI, If you fly on Virgin, there are NO free snacks. Not even like 5 peanuts. So be sure you bring snacks if you plan on flying the 'hip' airline.
We got into NY in the evening, checked into the hotel and headed for my favorite NYC Italian spot, "Serafina". The guys all wanted to go out to a hotspot but I was feeling more like crashing. We have to get up early for our Fearless TV Show Taping! Night! |

DAY #3 IN NY!
5/25/2008
|
Bummer! The guys flew home today. I was off to do several radio interviews with manager and east coast radio promo rep, Jimmy Jam! I was 30 minutes late to meet them in the morning because I could not catch a cab! I was trying to flag one down and they all kept buzzing by. I tried another corner and finally had luck! We walked to the first radio interview at Sirius Satellite Radio. Lemme tell ya, the offices are super wicked. Who would have thought Satellite radio would have gotten so huge? The people I was with spotted some celebrity who was either a sports star or some famous r&b singer. I still have no clue who he is. You see guys, I try to get my pop culture from you so if you think there's something I should know, please tell me...otherwise, I could care less! I am not one of those people that gets entranced in tabloids and perezhilton.com. I watch the NEWS. I got into an argument with one of the people I was with because that is not NEWS to me. It's funny how someone can assume you are not educated with current events just because you didn't know Angelina is having triplets!
haha gotcha...no, you are right. She is having twins. But seriously, I don't really care. Anyway, I think they got that i'm a musician and also intelligent...so that's all that matters right? So what If I don't know that Britney Spears married her maid last week?
hahah jk! oh how rumors are started! :)
So back to the agenda. I met the program directors and they were really friendly. We vibed to several of my favorite tracks on the album and then I had to jet.
We were off to Z100 (the hottest station in NYC!)
I met Nico, who is a cool young DJ. We really gelled during the interview and shared some under the table laughs. I'll let you guys know when and where you can hear that interview. OH and also when the FEARLESS TV show on FOX airs. I will keep y'all posted!
After getting a tour of the offices we stopped quickly to grab some grub. A girl's gotta eat!! Seriously, sometimes it's soo hard to find time to eat quality food on the road. I travel with a snack sack and everyone makes fun of me for it. :(
Next up was catching a train to a city near Poughkeepsie. We met with a Musical Director of a great local station and dined on delicious mexican food. When the mariachi came by, I requested "La Bamba". We missed the train and had to take a late 2 hour train back to the City putting us in around 1 am. Exhausting day but fun! Here is a picture of me and Nico, the cool DJ from z100. NIGHT NIGHT!

the latest..
Hey Everyone!
I have been so busy talking to you guys and returning messages that I haven't really posted a blog in a while. First off, I want to say thank you for being the best fans. You have rallied around me and supported me from day 1. I am so stoked to be sharing this journey with you. So here is the update on everything Landon. We are going to New York in a couple weeks to do a bunch of radio promo shows and one big live show! The east coast have been our 1 region for radio support and tour demands. So we are coming to the city! I love the energy of NY and people's 'no bullshit' attitude. It's very refreshing. My first time in the city was when I was 13. I was there trying to catch a cab ride to my first theatrical audition. Being from the south, I used my southern grace to let everyone who mysteriously jumped before me, to go ahead of me in taking the cab. Needless to say, my attitude changed after the 5th person rudely pushed there way in front of me. This is just their way of life. So now I try to catch the first cab whenever I can, but not at the expense of stepping on anyone. :P
So after NY we are getting in the studio with 2 legends, Keith Olsen (Ozzy, Pat Benitar, Fleetwood Mac) and Bob Clearmountain (Rolling Stones, The Who, The Clash)!
These 2 guys have been believers of my music from the very beginning. They are doing this because they whole heartedly believe in this vision and want to show the world what an amazing team we are going to be together. We are cutting 5 live records! 4 songs from 'One Woman Army' and 1 brand new song I finally decided to record. It's going to be all live and stripped of robots and sequencers. We wanted to show the power of the songs and let everyone hear us stripped of the ear candy.
There has been a demand from fans to do this and I want to give you guys the best performances from me.
The guys and I are prepping up for some serious tours coming up..but we are taking the time to re-evaluate our goals and agenda. We want the live show to be the way we want it to be and things to be real and raw. We actually decided to get another guitar player and try things out with that new dynamic. It's going amazing...more on this later.
HOpe you guys are doing amazing. Lots of love from sunny California!

RED LIPSTICK VIDEO
5/5/2008
|
Hey Guys! So excited to announce the release of our new music video for the song, "Red Lipstick"!
A bunch of major video sights are featuring it right now so check it out!
Behind The Video:
When Robby Starbuck and I came up with the concept it was to exhibit female strength, power and leadership. Who better to show those qualities than our service women. The women that go to battle, sometimes leading troops of men, go into war fearlessly while they still have families of their own whom they've given birth to and left to courageously serve their country. Landon admires these women and saw them as the ultimate female powerhouse. Landon has a deep interest and respect for the World War II era and the studies of the times and how they affected the world as it is now. "We wanted to do a video that showed respect to the authenticity of battle and sacrifice and that is why we took the time and research to make the band costuming authentic. All uniforms were at sometime worn by a active serviceman and woman from that era." Robby Starbuck brought a different vibe to the table. Incorporating a more modern take on the video that was more relevant to the times. Having 'terrorists" (islamic extremists) in the video, only emphasized the unfortunate timelessness of war and the ever need to have a strong defense. In this case, the woman is the general. In this case the woman is saving lives. In this case, the woman is taking lives.
At the end of the day she's still a woman and puts on her red lipstick in pride. In Robby Starbucks video, co-produced by Landon, they thematically came out stylish instead of pulling a fast one with gun fire and quip explosives.
This video has profound undertones but at the same time doesn't take itself too seriously. The song 'red lipstick' is a invigorating, driving song that every woman is bound to get pumped to. Ready to kill or ready to rock.... a woman's power and strength is not just in the world's redundant theme of sexually charged female music videos.

2 Shows 1 night!
4/11/2008
|
Hey guys!
The other night was absolutely insane. I did not know how I was going to power through two shows in 1 night. It was the energy of the crowd that got me through and kept me super pumped. The show at Pipeline was a packed house! I was so stoked to see so many fans in the audience singing my lyrics and jumping up and down with me. You guys are the best! The after party got crazy when the Plain White T's showed up in the middle of my set. They were so supportive and came up to the front of the stage to rock out with us. That show was truly a show to remember. I left it all up there and it felt so damn good. I was dripping in sweat after that and decided to party with the band until we all got kicked out of the club at closing. It was a great way to end the tour! Cheers to all my new friends and fans in Hawaii! Mahalo! |

ALOHA from Landon!
4/7/2008
|
Hey Everyone!
I just woke up in Maui and it is so gorgeous outside. I have a view of the ocean from my room and have been whale watching all morning. They say if you get up early you have a better chance of seeing them because they are more active.
We met some crazy and unique people last night at dinner. One of the ladies I met was a feisty woman named, "Ann Marie". She struck me in way and we bonded because she was french. We spoke french for a while and talked about various things. I love different cultures and different outlooks on life. She has never visited 'the mainland' and is coming to the US for the first time to design dresses. She is a gifted designer and is going to design me a dress this morning at her shop in Maui.
Ann Marie told me to give the island 'an offering'. I wasn't sure if that meant to burn my favorite stage boots or to leave some sort of piece of me, like a song or poem. She said that if I do that, my love will spread from this island across the ocean and give everyone in the world love. That people will feel the vibrations of my love offering everywhere. She said she did it when she came to the island and it changed her life.
What do I have to lose? I want to give love to all the people who need it and as they say, 'when in rome'.
So at some point today I will make my love offering to this island. Better do it soon because we have a flight to catch at 2!
Hope my love reaches you guys across the waters.
Mahalo!

Hawaii
3/19/2008
|
I'm finally getting excited about Hawaii and opening up for the Plain White Ts. I usually don't get excited about stuff till it happens but I'm really feeling it this time. Maybe I just need a vacation!? Hawaii isn't a tough break at all. I heard we get to swim with dolphins and surf (even though I'm a terrible California Girl) :) I need to work on my tan before I get in the water with the pros. Not really into that fake n bake. I live 5 minutes from the beach here in Huntington and I never get to go! :P
Hope you guys are having a good week. One more day of rehearsal before our show at Chain in Anaheim Sat!

THE RELEASE PARTY AT BERKELEY STREET!
3/14/2008
|
Guys,
This was one of the best nights of my life...seriously. So much fun and great people there. I really enjoyed the artichoke goat cheese appetizers too. :P
It was at Bob and Betty Clearmountain's new studio called "Berkeley Street". We pulled off a high energy set of 7 songs and partied until the wee hours. Wish every one of you could have been there with us to celebrate the release of 'ONE WOMAN ARMY!'. We've been over the river and through the woods to get this album out to you. Very proud and very stoked that there has been such an overwhelming support even in the early stages of our soft release. So by now i'm sure you heard about "plain white t's" in Hawaii. We are gonna do some other rad shows all around Hawaii on most every island. Got some surprise shows coming up with some bands that you guys have been buzzing about. News travels fast. We'll let you know fact from fiction in a couple weeks. Thanks to RVCA for welcoming us into the family.
Much love to you. Here goes the 'one woman army'.
